Top Seeds elimate from US Open ….

Top Seeds Bows out in New York
---------------------------------
It was hard day in the office for the Top seeds in US Open .

John Isner defeated Andy Roddick, 7-6, 6-3, 3-6, 5-7, 7-6. It’s the biggest upset so far in the men’s draw. Roddick, the no. 5 seed and top American male, ends another Grand Slam with disappointment, albeit much earlier than most would’ve expected. Isner will advance to Round 4 of the 2009 US Open. Isner beat Roddick at his own game, tallying 38 aces and winning two tiebreaks to advance, marking the farthest he has ever lasted in a Grand Slam.

Sharapova bows out !

Another big comeback win for Melanie Oudin.Oudin, two days after rallying against fourth seed Elena Dementieva, cemented her status as the women’s darling of the tournament by eliminating three-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 in a jubilant Arthur Ashe stadium. The 17-year-old from Georgia eventually took advantage of Sharapova’s serving woes Saturday to reach the fourth round of a major for the second straight time, no minor achievement. “Getting to play Maria was an unbelievable experience for me,” said Oudin, whose upper left leg was still heavily taped. “She’s such a great competitor, a great player. I just had a blast playing there today. I proved to myself that I can compete with these top girls. And if I believe in myself and my game, then I can beat them.”

Blake Winner to face Federer in a round of 16 !

A bad day for American men got worse Saturday night when James Blake, twice a quarterfinalist at the US Open, lost to No. 14 Tommy Robredo 7-6(2), 6-4, 6-4. John Isner’s upset over No. 5 Andy Roddick – along with losses by No. 22 Sam Querrey and qualifier Jesse Witten – gave the USA a 1-4 record on the day. For Blake, the loss to Robredo ends a frustrating summer in which a broken toe limited him to just one match during the Olympus US Open Series. He hit two aces and made just 45 percent of his first serves Saturday, while Robredo countered with 10 aces and a first serve percentage of 63. While Robredo and Blake competed on Arthur Ashe Stadium . It was another Drama in Louis Armstrong Stadium

After Sharapova it was Dinara Safina , a another Russian bowed out of US Open today . She was defeated by an youngster Petra Kvitova in a three-set thriller . Women’s No. 1 seed Dinara Safina was upset on Louis Armstrong Stadium by unseeded Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(5). Kvitova hit a backhand winner, service winner and forehand winner respectively to save three match points at 5-6 in the third set.
