Former Australia batsman Darren Lehmann has been signed by Indian Premier League side the Rajasthan Royals as cover for South African captain Graeme Smith.
Smith will be playing in the Standard Bank Pro20 Series - the domestic South African Twenty20 tournament - with Lehmann to cover for the left-hander for at least the first two games.
Lehmann, who played 27 Tests and 117 one-day internationals for Australia, will play for the Royals against the Delhi Daredevils on April 19 and Kings XI Punjab on the 21st, with Smith to return to India sometime after.
Smith will be playing for the CapeCobras in South Africa and if his team qualifies for the final, he will be in doubt for the Royals third match of the IPL tournament on April 24 and fourth match against the Bangalore Royal Challengers on the 26th.
The Royals are captained by Lehmann's old Australian team-mate Shane Warne, with Queensland all-rounder Shane Watson and Pakistan duo Younis Khan and Kamran Akmal among the team's stars
