Samuels reported for chucking ..

Part-time spin bowler Marlon Samuels has been reported to the ICC for a suspected illegal action.

The West Indies batsman incurred the wrath of umpires Simon Taufel, Aleem Dar and Brian Jerling over one particular delivery sent down during the third Test against South Africa in Durban.

Samuels must undergo independent analysis of his action by a member of the ICC's panel of human movement specialists, who will report back to the world governing body to confirm its legality or illegality.

ICC match referee Roshan Mahanama said: "Concerns have been raised by the match officials over the legality of Marlon's bowling action with particular reference to his 'fast ball' when viewed with the naked eye.

"We are therefore requesting the ICC to commission a biomechanical report into the bowler's fast-ball action in accordance with the process introduced in 2005.

If Samuels is found to have been bowling with an illegal action he will be suspended from bowling his quicker ball in international cricket.

He would then have the option of applying to the ICC for a re-assessment before he can resume as previously.

Samuels, who scored a century in the third Test defeat, would be allowed to continue bowling in international cricket as long as he does not try his quicker ball.
