Milan playmaker admits concerns following supporter's death

Milan star Kaka fears the violence in Italian football will dissuade the big names from playing in Serie A.

The death of a Lazio supporter, shot by a policeman, on Sunday triggered scenes of violence in Italy.

Lazio's game with Internazionale was called off, while Milan's encounter with Atalanta in Bergamo was abandoned after just seven minutes following crowd trouble.

The incidents are being investigated, with the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) admitting there is no guarantee that Serie A will resume immediately after the international break.

And Kaka, who has repeatedly been linked with a move to Real Madrid has voiced his worries for the future quality of Italian football.

"All these acts of violence risk distancing the top players from our Serie A," Kaka told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"The world-class players want to play in great teams and in Italy there are some of the most prestigious clubs in the world.

"But they are also looking for joy and enthusiasm."

Kaka also acknowledged it is another setback for the game in Italy, following on from the match-fixing scandal, dubbed Calciopoli, and the killing of a policeman earlier this year.

The Brazilian added: "First Calciopoli, then the police officer killed in Catania. Now this tragedy. A fan killed while he was going to see a game.

"Italy is losing credibility. The list is becoming too long."
